What if AI is one big massive fad?

Somebody had to call it. Right?

AI is a fad.
Somebody had to say it.
And that wazzock, is me.

The Proof

To prove it, here are three advancements that we got WAY too excited about as a society, but didn’t last:

1. Concorde

I’ll admit AI has saved some lazy pigs some time. I’ll give it that.

But do you know what else did? This puppy:

Instead of eight hours from London to New York, Concorde blitzed it in three. Its supersonic speed meant you could fly faster than the Earth's rotation and watch the sunset twice on the same day. And we lapped it up:

Do you know where Concorde is now? I’ll give you a clue: It ain’t in da sky!!!

It’s hiding in a shed in France, too embarrassed to show its face because of its stinking reviews:

So bad they felt compelled to write their first review.

Pretty sure ‘La Meister’ is a play on words in French, like Max Power

Wait. So Glenys is dragged to air museums, forced to stand, AND write the review? He ain’t treatin’ you right Glenys! Find yourself a proper MAN!!!!

2. 3D TVs

But did it ever arrive?

Don’t be embarrassed if you shelled out a couple of grand to watch almost zero programming in 3D - a lot of people fell for it.

The TV industry hasn’t earned back our trust, and rightfully so.

3. Von Dutch Caps

A true technological revolution (in caps).

Wearing one truly cemented your status as a bawler.

But now…

Ok, here's the play

AI is a fad is an outside bet.
A heavy, heavy outside bet.
One that nobody else is banking on, so I'm taking it for myself.

If I'm right...

I'll be heralded as one of the most forward-thinking minds of modern society, like Stephen Hawking or… Esther Rantzen.

This blog post will go viral, captioned with:

"In 2025, he called it!”

"Dan for President"

(or more likely) “Ohhh… he wasn’t a total idiot”

Cue: a TED Talk, best-selling book, celeb status (amongst dorks), and a Nando’s black card.

If I'm wrong...

Just mentally file away this drivel under the category of comedy.
Call it satire or irony or something - I don't care. These obviously are not real thoughts (in the instance that I'm wrong).
